"The Book of Mormon" First National Tour Review ☑

Last night, I finally saw "The Book of Mormon" live. It was so perfect that I can't even think about one negative thing to say about it. It is the best show that I have seen (live) so far. It literally took my breath away. The show is perfect, the cast is phenomenal, the sets are great, everything about it is just WOW.

"The Book of Mormon" tells the story of two Polar opposite Mormon Missionaries who are stationed in Uganda, Africa. For more, you have to see the show!

The book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez (of "Let it Go"), and Matt Stone is a work of genius. The show is absolutely hilarious. From the second the show started, I had a huge smile on my face, and that smile remained there for the entire show. The show is everything a musical comedy should be. People get upset because they are "offended", but everything that they say in this show is true. Sure, get offended if you like, but all of it is true.

The show was cast flawlessly. Billy Harrigan Tighe was the ideal Elder Price. He was innocent, charismatic and had an over all "good boy vibe". He also looked and sounded the part very well. A.J. Holmes was hilarious as Elder Cunningham. Holmes played the nerdiness of the part perfectly.

Dayna Jarae Dantzler did a beautiful job as Nabulungi. She played the role with a lot of emotion and her voice rang throughout the theatre. Other standouts include Brian Beach (Elder McKinely) and Stanley Wayne Mathis (Mafala Hatimbi).

Casey Nicholaw's direction and choreography is superior. His staging is brilliant and his choreography is on point. There is a tap number, you can't get much better than that.

The sets (by Scott Pask) for this show are great!  I really loved the sets for the Uganda scenes and the Spooky Mormon Hell Dream set. I also really enjoyed the lighting design (by Brian MacDevitt) on this show, most specifically the lights on the proscenium arch.

This show is so phenomenal. It is hilarious and has all of the elements of a classic musical, while it is still a contemporary piece. Definitely one of the best shows of all time. It is incomparable! It is in El Paso until Sunday, the 15th. Try and catch it! If you don't see it, the shame on you. 5 stars!!!!!!!
