PETER PAN 1960 BROADCAST REVIEW

Today, I watched the 1960 Broadcast of "Peter Pan" starring, Mary Martin and Cyril Ritchard Overall, It was an excellent production.

 First off, the cast:
Mary Martin played the role of Peter Pan. Martin played the role with such enjoyment and charisma. Her voice soared during the ballads "Never Never Land' and "Distant Melody".  She also shined during the numbers "I've Got a Crow" and "Oh, My Mysterious Lady". Her acting skills are delightful and unforgettable. Martin's performance as Peter Pan is one that will never be forgotten because she IS Peter Pan.
Cyril Ritchard played the roles of Mr. Darling and Captain Hook. He is the real comedic relief of this show. Out of all the versions of the story "Peter Pan", This is the one where the character of Hook is portrayed best. He never had a weak moment during the show. His costume is also really great! He has an excellent singing voice and superb acting skills. A "tour de force" (I hope I spelled that right) I can't wait to see what Christopher Walken does with it.
  Next, The Children:
The children were portrayed by Maureen Baily (Wendy), Kent Fletcher (Michael),  and Joey Trent (John). Maureen Baily played the role of Wendy with such tenderness and innocence. Her voice is not to be forgotten. Kent Fletcher and Joey Trent also did a well job.
Also, a big shout out to Margalo Gillmore and Joe E. Marks who played Mrs. Darling and Smee, for making the most of their small parts.
The score to this version of Peter Pan (which was written by Moose Charlap, Betty Comden, Adolph Green, Carolyn Lee, Trude Rittmann, and Jule Styne) soars. One of the greatest ever written.

The scenery was also excellently done, as were the costumes. Every aspect of the show is amazing. The flying was stunning and breathtaking. Tinker Bell is a really great light effect as well.

This is an excellent adaptation of the story and I totally recommend this to everyone.
