Revisit: "WICKED" ☑

Image
.            On May 30 2015, I won the "WICKED" lottery and I was able to see the show again! This going to be kind of a review because I've already seen this exact cast. Judging from last night's performance, I went on an off night last week. You can read my review from last week's performance here . The cast:    There must have been something in Alyssa Fox's (Elphaba) water last night because she was so much better than she was last week. Last week, she became my 10th favorite Elphaba. Just from last night's performance, she became my FAVORITE Elphaba (Sorry Jennifer DiNoia)!!! Last night she was both a spectacular actress and singer equally. Last week, her speaking voice is how I imagine Elphaba's speaking voice. Now, I can say the same for both her speaking voice and singing voice! Her riffs were fabulous as well. Fox as Elphaba has become one of the best performances I've seen in any show so fa...

"WICKED" Second National Tour Review ☑

Image
On May 20th 2015, I saw one of my favorite shows of all time..."WICKED"     First, lets talk about me and "WICKED". "WICKED is without a doubt one of my favorite musicals. I have seen the show twice live and I have also seen countless bootleg videos and listened to countless audios. I am also a "WICKED" encyclopedia. If you lost your playbill and need to know who you saw as Elphaba on March 8, 2008? Stephanie J. Block. That's how big of a fan I am. It's kind of unhealthy.       Let's start with the cast.      Alyssa Fox was a fabulous Elphaba. She is an amazing singer, but as Elphaba, she is more of an actress. Her vocal portrayal of Elphaba when she speaks is how I imagine Elphaba's speaking voice in my head. She is an outstanding singer, but she could've been a bit more louder while belting and I have heard better singing from other Elphabas. No disrespect to her singing because she is still phenomenal. She also did so...

Local Review: "Hairspray" at Kids n Co. Performance Center

Image
Okay. Before I start this review I need to say this...I already don't like "Hairspray" that much as a whole. THERE I SAID IT!!!!!!!!!!! The reason why I don't like the show itself is because it is a boring story and I don't care what happens to the characters. I have sat through the movie version of "Hairspray" a few times and made it through. But, when I try to watch a video of the stage show...I am incredibly bored after "I Can Hear the Bells".  The reason why I could stand "Hairspray" is because the songs save it. In fact, the movie takes out most of the songs I don't like. However, I must say this production of "Hairspray" MIGHT have changed my mind. The reason I put the word might in all capital letters is because there are still songs I don't like.      The show opens up with the song "Good Morning Baltimore" which was sung by the leading lady Tracy Turnblad (played by Nichole Hardgrove). Ha...
